• 1 1/2 tsps (8 gs) baking powder
• 1/4 tsp baking soda
• 1/4 tsp salt
• Honey-blood orange compote, for serving (optional, below)

• Olive or another oil of your choice, for frying
• 1 cup sour cream or plain, full-fat yogurt
• 1 to 2 Tbsp lemon juice
• 1/4 tsp lemon zest
• Pinches of salt
