110 g (4oz) butter, at room temperature, plus extra for greasing

2 eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

85 g (3 oz) self-raising flour

4 tbsp cocoa powder

A pinch of salt

280 g (10oz) ready-made light brown regal icing or 280g (10 oz) ready-made white royal icing coloured brown by mixing together yellow, red and black food colouring

3 tbsp apricot jam

100 g (31/2oz) white chocolate

20 g (3/4oz) desiccated coconut

Yellow and orange M&Ms

Some drops of green food coluring or ½ tsp Japanese green tea powder

8 wooden skewers

Icing sugar, for dusting

A 900g (2lb) loaf tin
