Oh dear, sticky rice or no, that is why those slowcookers scare me, they sometimes slowly make dishes go amok. I think rice always is tricky in one of those ... so what I would do is put everything in the pot but the rice, go about your day, then before dinner gently fold in cooked rice, simmer for 15 minutes (you could even use brown rice in this case), and serve.(and save the sticky rice for a sticky dish ;-))

Note to self...when converting to slow cooker recipe, don't use japanese rice. Now it's more like polenta con pollo *sigh*

Ingredients for 6 servings

2 tablespoons olive oil

6 boneless skinless chicken thighs, cut in half

4 skinless chicken drumsticks

2 medium onions chopped

3 garlic cloves chopped

1 red bell pepper de seeded and chopped

2 teaspoons cumin

1 teaspoon chopped fresh oregano

1 15-ounce can of chopped tomatoes, including juice

3 cups chicken broth, plus more if needed

1 cup wine (or stock)

1 teaspoon of paprika

1/2 teaspoon turmeric

2 cups white rice

1 cup frozen defrosted or freshly shucked peas

Garnish: Cilantro

Garnish: Toasted pumpkin seeds

Garnish: Sour cream or greek yoghurt

Garnish: Green pimento olives
