5 x medium pears, peeled, halved and cored

For cake:

1 1/2 cup hazelnuts

1/2 cup flour

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

3 x eggs

whipped cream, to serve
