12 6″ wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes

1½ tsp. sugar

1 tsp. kosher salt, plus more to taste

½ tsp. ground white pepper

¼ cup oyster sauce

3 tbsp. peanut oil

1 tbsp. red fermented tofu

1 tbsp. soy sauce

1 tsp. black vinegar

1 tsp. hot sesame chile oil

1 tsp. tomato paste

¼ tsp. freshly ground black pepper

2 tsp. toasted sesame seeds
