2/3 cup milk

3/4 cup all-purpose flour (I often use white whole wheat)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup reduced-fat cheddar cheese

1 teaspoon baking powder

3 tablespoons vegetable oil (I prefer canola)

1 (8 3/4 ounce) can whole kernel corn , drained or 1 cup frozen whole kernel corn (thawed) or cream-style corn

2 tablespoons sugar

3/4 cup white cornmeal or yellow cornmeal

1 egg
