Delicious! My first from scratch layer cake and it turned out great! I adhered the layers together with frosting that I had not yet added nuts to just for some contrast. It was a hit!

Butter-Pecan Frosting

6 ounces white chocolate, chopped

1/2 cup boiling water

1 cup butter, softened

1 1/2 cups sugar

4 large eggs, separated

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon baking soda

3 cups sifted cake flour

Garnish: toasted pecan halves
