1 teaspoon olive oil

1 medium onion, chopped

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (15-16 ounces) black-eyed peas, rinsed and drained

2 cups reduced-sodium vegetable broth

1 teaspoon liquid smoke

1 meatless smoked sausage, finely chopped (we used Lightlife Chorizo Style)
