2 teaspoons lemon juice

12 tablespoons (1-1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened but still cool

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour (spooned into measuring cup and leveled off with knife)

2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons grated nutmeg

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

3 tablespoons granulated sugar

2-1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
