  • 1 cup milk (lowfat is fine)
  • 2 tsps lemon juice
  • 12 Tbsps (1-1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened but still cool
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1-1/2 tsps vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (spooned into measuring cup and leveled off with knife)
  • 2-1/2 tsps baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsps grated nutmeg
  • 3 Tbsps unsalted butter
  • 3 Tbsps granulated sugar
  • 2-1/4 tsps cinnamon
