2 shallots , finely diced

2 tablespoons horseradish , grated

1 1/4 cups tomato juice

1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce

12 large shallots , peeled and diced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon thyme leaves

4 tablespoons olive oil

salt and pepper

1 tablespoon chives , finely chopped

1 small butternut squash , peeled, seeded and cut into quarters

For the roast vegetables

2 garlic cloves , crushed

3 tomatoes , deseeded and diced

1 red chile , seeded and finely chopped

2 tablespoons vodka

2 small carrots , halved

3 small parsnips , halved

For the steak

2 teaspoons pepper

3 tablespoons lemon juice

2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon water

1 (2 1/4 lb) rib eye steaks, on the bone

2 teaspoons tomato paste
