1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

2 large eggs

2 tablespoons canola oil

1 1/2 cups whole-wheat pastry flour, (see Ingredient Note) or whole-wheat flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons butter, melted

2 cups diced bananas

2/3 cup brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup chopped toasted walnuts, (see Tip), plus more for topping if desired

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
