Ingredients for 16 servings

3 tablespoons chopped toasted walnuts or chopped toasted pecans

butterscotch extract, to taste (optional)

2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar (See Note Above)

1/2 cup whole wheat flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

2/3 cup caramel topping (I use smuckers fat-free)

Crust

Filling

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup quick-cooking rolled oats

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

5 teaspoons all-purpose flour

5 teaspoons unsweetened applesauce

1/2 cup reduced fat margarine , softened (Non Hydrogenated, NO LESS THAN ( 35 calories, 4 grams fat, and 0.5 grams sat. fat PER 2 tsp.)
