Ingredients for 3 servings

4 duck legs

2 Tbs kosher salt (use half if using regular salt)

2 Tbs sugar

1 Tbs five spice powder

3-4 C rendered duck fat

6 cloves of garlic peeled and smashed

2 onions finely chopped

4 cloves garlic minced

1 cinnamon stick (or equivalent piece of Casia bark)

8 whole cloves

28 oz can whole tomatoes (preferably from San Marzano)

1 Tbs honey

salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

cooked pasta

minced garlic chives (baby garlic scapes)
