375 ml (1 cup) boiling water

150 g (5.5oz or 11 tablespoons) unsalted butter, diced

115 g (1/2 cup) brown sugar

55 g (1/4 cup) caster sugar (fine granulated sugar)

2 eggs

1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract

185 g (1.5 cups) all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

2 ripe pears, peeled cored and diced

120 g (1 cup) raspberries, fresh or frozen
