Momma's Spicy Apple Pickle

Ingredients

3 cooking apples

2 tsp salt

1 tbsp chilli powder + bit extra (depending on taste)

3 garlic cloves

1 tbsp methi seeds

1 tbsp mustard seeds

Pinch of asafoetida

Preparation

1.

Wash apples and chop into bite size chunks and put in a bowl

2.

Sprinkle with salt and chilli powder and stir

3.

Crush the garlic and mix into the apples

4.

Heat a pan and roast methi seeds until they lightly splatter

5.

Transfer seeds into a blender and pulse until it becomes a powder

6.

Mix the powder into the bowl of apples

7.

Heat 1tbsp oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and asafoetida. Remove when mustard seeds start to splatter

8.

Pour oil mixture into the apple mixture and stir so the apples and well coated and the flavour is evenly distributed
