Ingredients for 9 servings

18 Seckel pears, carefully peeled leaving stem intact, cored from the bottom.

2 cups riesling

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and seeds scraped

1 stick butter

1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and seeds scraped

1 cinnamon stick

1/2 star anise

2 large eggs

1/2 cup sugar

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/8 teaspoon salt

9 large mouth mason jar rings and lids
