Perfect Hard Boiled Egg

Eggs are a great source of protein, however, egg yolk consumption should be limited to one a day due to the high cholesterol and saturated fat content. Undercooked eggs pose a health hazard, while overcooked eggs are dry in the center and may be unpleasant to eat. This recipe creates an egg that has a firm white section, moist yolk, and soft center.

Ingredients for 1 serving

1 egg

3 cups water

1 tsp sesame oil

1 tbsp sriracha hot sauce

1 tsp soy sauce

Preparation

1.

Take a pot. Fill 3/4 way with water. Boil at medium/high heat.

2.

Once the water comes to a boil, add the egg. Use a spoon to place the egg in the water. This insured that the egg won't crack when dropping it in. The egg should be submerged completely in water.

3.

Boil for 15 minutes. Using the spoon, remove the egg from the boiling water. Run the egg under cool water to stop it from cooking. Set the egg aside to cool entirely for 2-3 minutes.

4.

Gently tap the egg shell with the spoon to break it. Peel, cut, season, and serve.

5.

To make sauce: mix the sesame oil, sriracha, and soy sauce together.
