2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1/4 teaspoon white pepper

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger

2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced

1 pound shelled, deveined shrimp (31 to 40 per lb.), rinsed
