The chard:

2 tablespoons canola oil

1/4 cup diced bacon

1 cup diced onion

4 bunches chard, stems removed and diced, leaves chopped into small pieces

1 tablespoon minced garlic

1/2 cup dry white wine

1 cup cream

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

The turnips:

8 medium-size turnips, peeled, each cut into 8 wedges

6 cloves garlic, smashed

3 sprigs of thyme

1/4 cup olive oil
