1 large bunch fresh coriander

1 large bunch fresh parsley

8 cups chicken stock

1 cup green lentils

1 can (19 oz/540 mL) chickpeas , drained and rinsed

2 cans (19 oz/540ml) tomatoes , drained and chopped

2 onions , chopped

2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp each ground cumin , ground ginger, turmeric and pepper

1/4 cup lemon juice

2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

1 tbsp cinnamon

1 lemon , thinly sliced

12 pitted dates , halved
