2 bay leaves

1 bunch of flat-leaf parsley , stems only

6 gumbo crabs, and/or 4 cups shrimp or crawfish shells, and/or ½ gallon (8 cups) oyster liquor, strained

½ tsp. dried thyme

1 Tbsp. black pepper corns
