Ingredients for 12 servings

6 tomatillos (about 1/2 pound), peeled and rinsed

2 15 ounce cans black beans, drained

5 cloves garlic--2 chopped, 2 halved and 1 whole

1/2 onion, chopped

3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Salt

2 - 3 chipotle chiles in adobo sauce, 1 tablespoon sauce reserved

2 avocados, preferably Hass

1 5 1/2 ounce box crisp-fried tostadas (12 tostadas)

1 heart romaine lettuce, shredded

4 ounces queso fresco (Mexican cheese) or goat cheese (about 1 cup)
