Ingredients

CRISP TOPPING:

1/2 cup walnuts

1 cup all-purpose flour

3 tablespoons brown sugar

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

pinch of salt (if using unsalted butter)

3 tablespoons melted butter

3 tablespoons maple syrup, pancake syrup, or light pancake syrup

FILLING:

4 cups fruit, peeled and sliced, coarsely chopped, or cut into 1/2-inch dice

1/4 cup sugar

2 tablespoons flour (if fruit seems particularly juicy, increase this by a tablespoon.)
