1 lb. Italian prune plums, halved and pitted

1 1/4 cups granulated sugar

14 Tbs. (1 3/4 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature

4 eggs, separated

Finely grated zest of 1 orange

Finely grated zest of 1/2 lemon

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup cornstarch

2 tsp. baking powder

2 Tbs. Grand Marnier or other orange-flavored liqueur

1 Tbs. confectioners’ sugar
