I used only a total of 3/4 cup of sugar because I think there was too much sugar. After they were done and I tried a small piece I thought they tasted great.

Ingredients for 8 servings

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup sugar

3/4 cup packed light-brown sugar

1 large egg

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups (about 9 ounces) mixed milk- and semisweet-chocolate chips

2 pints vanilla ice cream
