1/2 cup finely diced onion

2 cloves garlic, minced (2 tsp.)

2 1/2 tsp. chopped fresh sage

3/4 cup pumpkin purée

3/4 cup plain breadcrumbs

1 large egg, beaten, or 1/4 cup silken tofu and 1/4 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

16 whole sage leaves

Green pepper sauce, such as Tabasco, for dipping
