Milk (optional)

8 ounces unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped

½ cup plus 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs, lightly beaten

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

1 ½ cups pecan halves, toasted lightly, then coarsely chopped

Confectioners’ sugar for sprinkling on top
