Grandma Vi's Never-Fail Icing

Ingredients for 8 servings

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup cold water

2 egg whites

2 tsps light corn syrup

1/4 tsp cream of tartar

1 tsp pure vanilla extract (dont use imitation)

1 pinch salt

Preparation

1.

In a medium sauce pan add sugar, corn syrup, water, and cream of tartar.

2.

Cook on medium high heat until it comes to a boil, watch closely, when it turns a light Carmel color, remove from heat. Don't stir.

3.

In a clean chilled glass bowl, whip the egg whites with a hand or stand mixer until soft peaks are formed.

4.

Slowly drizzle the sugar mixture into the egg whites beating the egg whites.

5.

Add vanilla
