Way too much balsamic vinegar and liquid. The spices seemed overpowering too. Disappointing.

Ingredients for 12 servings

1 cup red lentils

2 cups onions, chopped

2 cups leeks, chopped, white part only

1 ½ teaspoon fresh garlic, minced

2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

1 ½ teaspoon black pepper

1 ½ teaspoon dried thyme

½ teaspoon cumin

1 ½ cups celery, chopped

1 ½ cups carrots, peeled and chopped

2 cups sweet potatoes, small dice

3 cups chopped tomatoes (or 28 ounce can chopped tomatoes)

6 cups water & 4 tablespoon natural vegetable base (or 6 cups vegetable stock)

1/8 cup tomato paste

4 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

1 ½ tablespoon hot sauce

3 cups kale, blanched and chopped
