32 jumbo shrimp (about 2-1/2 pounds), peeled and deveined

2 sticks salted butter (16 tablespoons), melted, divided

1 1-pound loaf white sandwich bread

2 teaspoons hot sauce (eyeball it)

4 garlic cloves, finely chopped

3 tablespoons fresh thyme (about 6 sprigs), chopped

salt and freshly ground pepper
