Having grown up with an English parent, toad in the hole was a staple in our home. This has to be one of the best toad in the holes I have ever had!

Ingredients

for the batter

2 large red onions peeled and sliced

115 g plain flour

285 ml milk

good quality vegetable stock powder or 1 vegetable stock cube

1 level tablespoon

sunflower oil

a pinch of salt

8 large good quality sausages

3 eggs

6 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

2 knobs of butter

2 cloves of garlic peeled and finely sliced

4 sprigs of fresh rosemary
