Ingredients

1 cup flour

3/4 cup rolled oats

3/4 cup packed brown sugar

3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon ginger

1/2 cup butter, chilled & diced

5 cups peeled apples, sliced

3/4 cup white sugar

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 cup water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

1.

Preheat oven to 350 F. Butter a 2-1/2 qt baking dish. In large bowl, combine first 6 ingredients. Cut in butter until crumbly. Press 1/2 of the mixture into baking dish. Arrange apples on top of mixture. In saucepan, combinewhite sugar, cornstarch, water & vanilla. Bring to boil 2 minutes stirring constantly until thickened. Pour over apples. Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Bake 1 hr. or until apples are tender. Serve warm, with whipped cream or ice cream.
