  • 13⁄4 (800g) clams, thoroughly washed
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 4 oz (115g) thick-cut bacon strips, diced
  • 2 floury potatoes, such as russet Burbank, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1⁄2 cup half-and-half
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped flat-leaf parsley, to garnish
