2 tablespoons chopped shallots

1/2 cup chopped Italian parsley

2 1/2 cups peeled, seeded and chopped fresh tomatoes

1 1/4 cups fresh shelled English peas

3 cups tomato sauce, preferably homemade (see recipe)

2 cups water

Salt and pepper to taste

1 1/2 pounds fresh tagliatelle or fettuccine

1 tablespoon butter

1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
