1/2 cup instant malted milk powder (use 2 tablespoons extra for more malt taste)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup vegetable shortening

2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 (8 ounce) package reduced-fat cream cheese , chilled

cooking spray

2/3 cup nonfat milk

1/3 cup malted milk balls, coarsely chopped (can use more if desired)

3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted

3 tablespoons hot water

5 cups powdered sugar (about 1 1/4 pounds)

Cake Garnish

Frosting

3 large eggs

2 tablespoons butter , softened or 1/2 cup margarine , softened

2 teaspoons vanilla extract
