1 medium sweet onion, diced

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, cut into 4 pieces

1/4 cup white whole wheat flour (milled from white wheat grains)

4 cups milk

1 medium red bell pepper, diced

1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
