3 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup water

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

2 teaspoons sugar

1 cup all-purpose flour

5 large eggs

1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for eggwash)

2/3 cup (4 oz) good quality semisweet chocolate chips

2 tablespoons milk (I used 2%)
