12 asparagus spears, woody ends removed

1/4 lb shiitake mushrooms, stems removed

1 tbsp grated fresh ginger

2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce

2 tbsp mirin (sweetened rice wine) or sake

Salt and pepper to taste
