1 red bell pepper

2 tablespoons olive oil or salad oil

1/2 cup dry white wine or regular-strength chicken broth

8 small thin-skinned red potatoes (about 1 and 1/2 lbs total)

4 1/2 lbs meaty chicken pieces , such as breasts, thighs and legs

1 cup pitted ripe olives

1 1/2 teaspoons dry oregano

2 cups frozen peas, thawed

1 green bell pepper , seeded and finely chopped

2 medium onions , thinly sliced

2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce

1 cup raisins

1 1/2 teaspoons dry cumin

4 garlic cloves , minced (or pressed)
