The filling:

13/4 cups (about 8 ounces) dried apricots

1/2 cup golden raisins

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1 tablespoon packed light brown sugar

1 cup water

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Crust and topping:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup old-fashioned oatmeal

1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (or shelled, unsalted sunflower seeds)

8 ounces (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature

1 large egg yolk

Powdered sugar (optional)
