Ingredients for 8 servings

3 tablespoons butter, softened

8 large eggs

4 cups whole milk

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

An assortment of sliced breads such as whole wheat , sourdough, round loafs, bagels, etc., cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes (enough to fill a 13 x 9 x2” baking dish)

1 pint multi-colored cherry tomatoes, halved

2 cups Gruyere or Swiss cheese, shredded

2 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped

1 bunch chives, chopped

1/4 cup parsley, chopped
