1/2 cup (4 ounces) cream cheese

1/4 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons buttermilk powder (optional)

10 tablespoons (1 stick plus 2 tablespoons) cold butter

3 to 4 tablespoons cold water

1 large egg

1/2 cup brown sugar (light or dark)

1/3 cup corn syrup (light or dark)

1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 teaspoons rum or bourbon, or 1/8 teaspoon butter-rum flavor (all optional)

3/4 cup pecans, chopped
