Ingredients

2 dried bay leaves

1 cup French green lentils

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

4 boneless pork chops (each 5 ounces and 1/2 to 2/3 inch thick), fat trimmed

Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper

3 navel oranges

3/4 cup roughly torn or chopped basil leaves, plus whole leaves for garnish

1 small shallot, minced (2 tablespoons)

1 Hass avocado, chilled
