¼ cup cream sherry

1 small clove garlic , crushed

½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 large onion , diced

1 bay leaf

½ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

6 slices bacon , cut into ½-inch pieces

2 teaspoons salt

1 small leek , thinly sliced

6 cups Chicken Stock  

1½ cups heavy cream as garnish (optional)

2 small shallots , finely diced

1 small pumpkin (about 4 pounds)
