8 ounces shredded beef suet (ordered from a butcher)

12 ounces raisins

8 ounces Zante currants

8 ounces sultana golden raisins

4 ounces candied orange peel, chopped (see recipe)

4 ounces candied lemon peel, chopped (see recipe)

4 ounces slivered or chopped almonds

-- Grated zest and juice of 1 lemon

12 ounces dark brown sugar

2 1/2 teaspoons ground allspice

1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

7 tablespoons brandy
