2 teaspoons baking soda

1 cup hot water

Filling:

1/2 cup sugar

1/3 cup milk

2/3 cup solid vegetable shortening

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Frosting:

1 1/2 cups sugar

6 tablespoons milk

6 tablespoons butter

4 large marshmallows, cut in pieces

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
