I make this today and it was amazing I add French onions to the top of mine to give it a little crunch. It didn't take four hours on high it only took about two in a half to three.

Ingredients for 6 servings

3 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

1 cup sour cream (optional)

cheese , for sprinkling

1 teaspoon pepper

1 cup cream or half-and-half cream

1 quart chicken broth

2 1/2 teaspoons salt

3 garlic cloves , minced (or pressed)

6 large baking potatoes , peeled, cut in 1/2 -inch cubes

1 large onion , chopped

1/4 cup butter

8 slices bacon , fried & crumbled

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
