I made this without the topping (partially out of laziness) and I added a few extra spices (nutmeg, clover, ginger) as well as a 1/4 cup of vanilla yogurt (because I apparently cannot bake without adding yogurt, it's a sure fire way to avoid dryness). I also used olive oil since I was out of vegetable oil. Needless to say, beyond being much healthier than most muffins, they were delicious!

Ingredients

½ cup vegetable oil

½ cup plus 2 tablespoons real maple syrup

½ cup plus 2 tablespoons whole milk

1 cup white flour

1 cup whole wheat flour

2 ¼ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

1 pinch kosher salt

2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1 cup cranberries

¼ cup all-purpose flour

¼ cup whole wheat flour

¼ cup rolled oats (not quick-cooking)

¼ cup dark brown sugar

1 pinch salt

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 tablespoon whole milk
