This is not Mexican! Arepas are from Venezuela... and Colombians eat them too. Also, most Venezuelans don't eat spicy food.

I love Mexican food and these were delish. I would only make them for a party at home however because they have to be served hot. Unless you don't mind heating and finishing them at the party you are going to.

I been doing arepas for sometime now and they taste like english muffins -so easy to make and GF of course.we have them like bagles and lux will all the extras....

Ingredients

2 cups masa harina

2 teaspoons salt

2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil

1/2 cup grated queso fresco

½ cup sour cream

¼ cup cilantro leaves (optional)

Two 15-ounce can black beans, rinsed and drained

1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon cumin

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon hot sauce

1 cup chicken stock, veggie stock, or water

Juice of 1 lime
