Ingredients for 4 servings

1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar

1 cup port wine

Salad

12 cups spinach or baby greens (this dressing sticks better to soft lettuces)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon canola oil

Nuts

1/8 teaspoon cinnamon (or more)

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/4 red onion , cut into eighths and sliced (optional) or 1-2 shallots , minced (optional)

1/2 cup pecans or walnuts

1 ounce blue cheese , cut into pieces (or more)

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Dressing

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

2 apples , cut into thin wedges (I like to use pink ladies) or pears , cut into wedges
